Medical Emergency

ACTION REQUIRED BY STAFF TENDING TO Person

If there is an incident of a seizure:

1. Follow the Emergency Action Plan.
2. Remove any furniture or items near the person having the seizure.
3. Keep person having the seizure warm.
4. Remove bystanders.

5. CALL 911 for immediate transport to the hospital (if necessary).

6. If it is a student, ensure that a responsible adult accompanies the student to the hospital and remains with the student until the parent/guardian arrives.
7. Notify the parent/guardian or staff emergency contact of the medical emergency. State the name of the hospital they have been taken to for medical care.
