ACTION REQUIRED

1. PLAY lockdown CD
   -or-
   ANNOUNCE
   “Attention Staff and students, we are now in lockdown. All students outside class should enter the nearest classroom or safe area.”

2. INFORM
   Inform yard duty/teaching staff that school is in lockdown.

3. CALL 911.

   Give details including:

   • What is happening,
   • Location of event,
   • Description of event and suspects,
   • Tell police where a contact person will meet them, and
   • Tell police where school map, master key can be found.
4. Contact Emergency Response Team.

5. Await further instructions from emergency personnel or Emergency response Team.

POST-EMERGENCY PLAN

1. Do not speak to media.
   Refer all inquiries to DSBN Communications and Public Relations

2. Letter to parents following lockdown.
3. Debrief with staff (areas needing consideration).
4. Arrange for counseling support (if required).
